...single-soled and spectacular...

Now where did I read that 2013 is the year for the return of the single-sole heels?  (ie, no more death-defying, 'mine's-bigger-than-yours' platforms).  I see that kitten heels are also a big feature again this S/S, so I'm off to ransack the back of my wardrobe again as I'm sure I've kept plenty from previous seasons.

So, in respect of the single-sole heels, I have been spying them left right & centre on the pages of magazines.  The celebs are LOVING them, and so am I.  My ultimate, 'carte-blanche budget' pair would be a Christian Louboutin Pigalle, but of course that's living in a dreamworld. *sighs*.  I would, of course, ensure I'd maximise my cost-per-wear ratio (I'm thinking school-runs, grocery shopping, library, toddler-group etc.):

Although perhaps Heidi Montag here is taking it a slight (teetering) step too far, what do you think:

Anyway, so I've been stalking the High Street, and have come up with a few alternatives that might make the grade (and a few curve-balls that I just couldn't resist).  Perhaps a few will put a twinkle in your eye too:

Clockwise from top left:

Jimmy Choo Maya pumps £695 at Net-A-Porter

Aldo Darelbeida perspex heels £80 (also in white for the crisp, clean S/S trend)

Aldo Frited heels £60

Zara patent court shoe £19.99 (how's that for maxi style but mini spend?)

Asos Pixel heels £40

Christian Louboutin Pigalle Spikes £735 at Net-A-Porter

Dune Addict heels £85

  1. They look lovely ... but painful. I hope the 2013 versions have a little inner padding to help us along. I tried on some bottle green leather sky scraper heels (single sole) yesterday - I liked them a lot but couldn't walk far in them and so I put them back. In the old days, I would have just got them and grimaced. But I am soft. Motherhood and flats do that to you.

    1. Yes, now that you mention it, you've got a good point! Maybe it's no coincidence that the kitten heel is back too. Have we wised up do you think?!
Perhaps before I splash out, I will try on my old neon-green (!!) stilettos, to see if they're walkable or not. I can probably manage the heel-height, but I'm not sure I could manage the colour nowadays!

I wonder which one of us will crack it first with a comfortable AND fierce pair......? Is the challenge set?
